A FINE SOUTHERN FRENCH (PROVENÇAL) WALNUT AND SCAGLIOLA CENTRE TABLE, CIRCA 1850.
The scagliola top centred by a coat-of-arms, the finely carved base with ribbon and leaf frieze supported on massive acanthus scrolls and paw feet.
The base stencilled Maison d’ameublement TH FONTAYNE Jnt Rue Pavée 9 à Nimes. The coat-of-arms is that of the Barons Pougeard du Limbert and the table was presumably made for Baron Henri Pougeard du Limbert (1817-1898).
